Introduction

Welcome to today's blog post! I'm excited to share the inspiration behind one of my favorite paintings, "CAT MOM." This piece is dear to my heart, not just because of its subject, but because of the journey it represents. Initially, I thought of naming it "Family Portrait," but after adding the cursive "CAT MOM," the name stuck. To me, it still embodies the essence of a modern family portrait.

My Cat Mom Story

Am I a crazy cat person? Perhaps. I've loved cats since I was a little girl, sneaking neighbourhood cats into our apartment when my parents were out.

After getting married, my husband and I moved into his parents' empty house in the countryside. One night, we heard a strange noise at the front door. It was a tiny black kitten, meowing desperately.  That is what we told my mother-in-law, hoping she'd accept him more easily since we already had another cat (Sunny)  and a dog - (Hera)

But the truth? Theo, as we named him, found us during a walk. Despite his shabby appearance, he purred endlessly, and my childhood dream of having a cat finally came true. I even wondered, "Will I ever love my children as much as I love this cat?" While I never called Theo my "baby," the thought was profound.

Cultural Influence

A quick scroll through Instagram and TikTok reveals countless "Cat Moms," "Dog Moms," and their "fur babies." This global phenomenon made me reflect on how much family and social dynamics have evolved. For our grandparents' generation, a cat was just a cat, and a dog was just a dog. Today, many of us have pets that we treat like children, delaying parenthood into our late thirties.

Throughout history and even today Art is often used to pass an agenda .I'm not here to judge but to share what fascinates and fuels my creative process.. Art, in my opinion, should provoke thought, inspire questions, and encourage critical thinking . Ultimately, It’s the viewer who completes the painting, not the artist. What do you think?

Conclusion

That's all I have to say for now! Love your cats, dogs, and children, and I’ll see you next time!
